Coil basket weaving is an ancient craft practiced by indigenous cultures across the globe, from the Native American tribes of the Southwestern United States, such as the Hopi and Navajo, to the Bedouins of North Africa, and indigenous groups in Central and South America. These beautifully crafted baskets were traditionally made using natural materials such as grasses, reeds, and pine needles, and served a variety of purposes—from gathering food to storing goods.
