This multi-faceted institution caters to an intriguing range of interests – the history and the summer estate of one of America’s most famous and influential families, their-suspended-in-time mansion, astronomy, natural history, marine life, and multi-cultural artifacts.
The Vanderbilt Museum and Reichert Planetarium welcomes volunteers in all areas – as mansion guides and greeters, information/membership staff in the planetarium, organists, curatorial assistants, gardeners, and special events staff. If you do not see the skills you can offer listed, please feel free to inquire at info@vanderbiltmuseum.org or contact our volunteer coordinator, Carol, at carol@vanderbiltmuseum.org.
Most volunteer positions work with visitors of all ages and backgrounds. Candidates must be enthusiastic, curious, and eager to learn. Working with the public requires an affable disposition and impeccable reliability. A background or interest in the Jazz Age and the Gold Coast is preferable. Teaching experience and fluency in other languages, especially Spanish, is a bonus.
