Earth Day Celebration

Join us at our Earth Day Celebration! Throughout the day, we will offer special guided tours, hikes, crafts, and activities appropriate for all ages – all FREE with general admission. Advance registration is required to participate in a free guided hike or tour.

General Admission also includes access to the Vanderbilt Mansion (including the Habitat and Stoll Wing animal dioramas, and natural-history and cultural-artifact galleries in the Memorial Wing), The Hall of Fishes marine museum, Planetarium exhibits, and the grounds and gardens.

Natural History Collections Tours 

Explore the diversity of pollinators, mammals, and invertebrates, and touch teeth, corals, and shells on this special educator-led tour of the collections.

Earth Day Hike  

On this tour, learn about our place in the solar system, enjoy nature as we explore the beautiful, wooded Vanderbilt Estate, and take in awe-inspiring views of Northport Bay. Please be aware: this is an advanced hiking trail with many steep climbs and descents along a variety of mixed terrain with an elevation gain of nearly 300 feet. There will be two opportunities to cut your hike short and head back to the parking lot if you feel you or your party cannot finish the entire loop. Hikers assume all risk.
