When school is out for the February 15-19 winter break, children can have creative fun in workshops at the Vanderbilt Museum. Programs are held in the Education Center, located at the museum, 180 Little Neck Road, Centerport, N.Y. Reservations are required. Please call (631) 854-5539.

Monday, February 15 – 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Mixed Media Self-Portrait
$20 members/$25 non-members
Students visit the Vanderbilt mansion galleries, then use a variety of materials to create self-portraits inspired by those that grace the walls of Mr. Vanderbilt’s summer home. Students will view a portrait of George Washington, on display for Presidents Day.
Tuesday, February 16 – 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Polar Animal Clay Figure and Diorama
$20 members/$25 non-members
Students visit the wildlife dioramas and bird collection, examine teeth, antlers, skins, then create a clay sculpture and habitat of a polar animal.

Winter Wonderland Snow Globe

Children visit the wildlife dioramas, hear a story, and make a wintry snow globe with a favorite polar animal.
