According to legend, Clement Moore wrote his immortal poem, A Visit from St. Nicholas, for his family on Christmas Eve 1822. It first appeared in print in the Sentinel, a newspaper in Troy, New York, on December 23, 1823 – and is the most published, most read, most memorized, most collected book in all of Christmas literature.
