“I started the band in early 2014 with the goal of performing top songs from some of the biggest artists from the 1960s to today,” said band member Mike Zervos, who has been a musician for 30 years. “Our goal was to play music that few bands play anymore, music that’s not heard on the radio much these days.

“We have some of the top musicians and vocalists in the New York City area, and they all bring energy and accuracy to each song.”

Zervos said the band covers a spectrum of artists that includes, Billy Joel, Lady Gaga, Whitney Houston, Styx, Heart, Melissa Etheridge, C.C Pennison, Donna Summer, Stevie Nicks, Pure Prairie League, the Doobie Brothers, Alicia Keys, Huey Lewis and the News, Tina Arena and Grace Potter.

The Steel Silk Band has played at Long island libraries from Huntington to Connetquot and Bellport, with performances coming up this summer at the Bayshore and Oceanside libraries. It also has performed at Sonny’s Canal House in Baldwin and at the summer concert series in Riverhead, Mineola and East Rockway Village.
