Spring Break Fun: Children’s Museum Workshops

When school closes for spring vacation, your children can have a lot of fun – and learn a lot – in workshops offered by the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum.

Workshops are offered in the Vanderbilt’s Carriage House/Learning Center from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Fee: $20 / $18 members. Advance registration is required. To register or obtain more information, call 631-854-5539.

Grades K-3
Monday, April 22 – Animal Portraits
Explore the wildlife dioramas, hear an African story, and make a portrait of your favorite animal in the collections.

Tuesday, April 23 – Off to the Races
Visit the Vanderbilt Cup exhibit, learn about Mr. Vanderbilt’s interest in racing, and build a balloon-powered model car.

Wednesday, April 24 – Beaks and Feet
Learn about the variety of beaks and feet of the birds in Mr. V’s global collection and make a birdhouse.

Thursday, April 25 – Nature & Collections Walk
We’ll explore the gardens and collections for interesting creatures of all kinds and create a science journal for our field notes.

Preschool Workshop – Ages 3 & 4 with adult
April 26 Butterfly – Lifecycle Mobile
Visit Mr. V’s insect collection, compare butterflies and moths, and make a mobile of the life stages of lepidoptera.
