SOLD OUT — Lobster Fest: Summer Seafood Evening on the Bay

Museum’s Largest Fundraiser Supports Education Programs

In July, you can experience a relaxed summer evening like the ones the Vanderbilts and their guests enjoyed on their lush, 43-acre Eagle’s Nest estate above Northport Bay from the Jazz Age through the Second World War.

For the sixth year, the Vanderbilt Museum will hold its annual summer fund-raising event, Lobster Fest, on Saturday, July 22, from 6:00 to 10:00 in the Celebration Tent on the Great Lawn overlooking the bay and Long Island Sound. This is the Vanderbilt’s largest fund-raising event, and benefits the Museum’s education programs.

The Lobster Fest celebrates William K. Vanderbilt II’s passion for the sea, and his landmark circumnavigations of the globe, during which he collected thousands of marine specimens, some of them first-time discoveries, for his museum.

The menu will feature passed hors d’oeuvres, whole steamed lobsters, grilled skirt steak, steamed clams, and roasted sweet corn. As an added attraction – enjoy craft beer and sangria while witnessing the preparation of a 5-foot Paella. A deejay will play music for listening and dancing.

Tickets: $125 per person, $115 for Members (and $1,125 for a table of 10). Purchase tickets on-line at vanderbiltmuseum.org, or call 631-854-5579, Monday through Friday, 10:00-4:00 p.m. Reservation deadline: Friday, July 14.

For elegant period ambience, a 1908 Rolls Royce, 1911 Cadillac and 1920 Buick Roadster will be on display. Tickets will be sold for raffle baskets filled with useful items and services from local businesses.

Participants are invited to bring their nine irons and take part in a chip-shot contest on one of the remaining holes of Willie Vanderbilt’s original estate golf course. The player who gets closest to the pin wins the pot.
