The Vanderbilt Museum is bringing back the popular event Tango in the Courtyard. The evening of Argentine tango music, dancing and romance under the stars will be held on Saturday, August 25, from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m.
The Spanish-Revival style mansion of William Vanderbilt (1878-1944), listed on the Nattional Register of Historic Places, was inspired by the architecture Mr. Vanderbilt loved in Spain and South America. The beautiful, restored cobblestone courtyard is the perfect backdrop for tango and Latin music.
The gateway to the courtyard will open at 6:00 p.m. Professional instructors will give tango lessons from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $25 online, $30 at the door.Purchase Tickets
Guests are invited to bring a picnic dinner to enjoy during the evening. Water and soda will be available for purchase.
Attire: fun and elegant. Cobblestone-friendly shoes are highly recommended.
Guests will have ample opportunity to dance the tango as well as some Latin, ballroom and swing while enjoying the ambience of the Gold Coast Era.
In the event of rain or very cool weather, the event will move to the large celebration tent on the West Lawn.
Tickets: $25 online, $30 at the door.
