Just in time for Halloween, The Carriage House Players will present the spine-tingling drama The Woman in Black by Stephen Mallatratt and Susan Hill on Friday, October 20, at 8:00 p.m.
Formerly Arena Players Repertory Theater, The Carriage House Players perform year-round in the Carriage House Theater, located in the Education Center at the Vanderbilt Museum, 180 Little Neck Road, Centerport.
In The Woman in Black, a story from long ago troubles a lawyer. He wants to recount the tale to his family and friends, and hires an actor to tutor him. The lawyer’s discomfort began when he attended the funeral of an elderly recluse. There, he saw the woman in black.
The mere mention of her terrifies the locals, for she is a specter who haunts the neighborhood where her illegitimate child was accidentally killed. Anyone who sees her dies! The lawyer has invited some friends to watch as he and the actor recreate the events of that dark and stormy night. A classic of the genre.
Other performances will be Saturday, October 21, at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 22, at 3:00 p.m. Tickets: $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and children.
