Begin your holiday season where Hollywood stars and European royalty once dined with members of one of America’s most famous families. You can do that at a spectacular, historic American mansion – the elegant home of William K. Vanderbilt II, overlooking Northport Bay – decorated for the holidays.

The festive annual Holiday Dinner in the decorated Vanderbilt Mansion is planned for Saturday, December 2, with seatings of 50 at 6:00 and at 8:00 p.m.
The grand, 24-room, Spanish-Revival house – listed on the National Register of Historic Places – is decorated for the holidays each year by local designers and garden clubs, which adds charm and magic to this exclusive evening. Proceeds benefit museum education programs.
This event is a special opportunity to celebrate in Gold Coast style. Seating is very limited and sells out quickly.
Upon arrival, each guest will be greeted with champagne. The evening begins with wine and passed hors d’oeuvres in the natural-history galleries, followed by a guided tour of the family’s living quarters in the mansion.
The formal dinner is served in the glass-walled Northport Porch overlooking the harbor lights. Dessert, an assortment of cakes and fresh fruit. will be served in the Lancaster Room.
The menu: Prime Rib of Beef, Parmesan Baked Salmon with Lemon Sauce, Brie and Cranberry Stuffed Chicken in Wine Sauce, and Vegetarian Lasagna. Vegetables served with all entrees: Twice-Baked Sweet Potato and Green Beans Almondine. Plus wine, champagne, beer and soft drinks.
