The Steel Silk Band, a leading Long Island group, will return to the Vanderbilt Reichert Planetarium for another performance on Saturday, April 27, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. The Planetarium is located at the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum, 180 Little Neck Road, Centerport, N.Y.
The versatile Long Island musicians play an array of music that includes classic rock, Motown, R&B, pop and country. (Visit www.thesteelsilkband.com).
Steel Silk plays “Songs You Forgot You Love” – from Paul Simon and Faith Hill to The Outlaws and Carey Underwood, and many other favorites.
Their music will be accompanied on the Planetarium dome by video, photos and pop-cultural moments – as well as full-dome scenes of space and stars – enhanced by the Planetarium’s state-of-the-art, surround-sound system
Tickets: Adults $20 online, $15 for age 15 and under. Tickets (at these same prices) also will be available on a very limited basis at the door, but on-line purchase is highly recommended.
Band member Mike Zervos, a musician for more than 30 years, started the band in early 2014. His goal was to perform top songs from some of the biggest artists from the 1960s to today:
“We wanted to play music that few bands play anymore, music that’s not heard on the radio much these days. We have some of the top musicians and vocalists in the New York City area, and they all bring energy and accuracy to each song.”
