December at Vanderbilt’s ‘Eagle’s Nest’

Eagle’s Nest, the Long Island estate and mansion of William K. Vanderbilt II (1878-1944) is a historical and architectural gem listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the estate, which sits on a rollling, 43-acre hilltop overlooking Northport Bay in Centerport, N.Y., is the home of the Vanderbilt Museum.

The Museum is a time capsule of a vanished way of life, from the Jazz Age through the end of the Second World War. The estate’s specatcular setting, history and atmosphere exude a certain magic in every season, as evidenced by this album of images shot during December 2015.
